DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations Becomes ISO Certified

March 31, 2017

DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations, an industry leader in the design and supply of high-voltage, open-air substations and switchyards, based in Pineville LA, has announced it is now in conformance with ISO 9001:2015.

ISO 9001 is an international standard that defines requirements for establishing a Quality Management System (QMS) in any organization.

Achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification is a benchmark for measuring the maturity of the organization’s QMS.  DIS-TRAN consistently strives to improve procedures to better meet and serve our customers needs. In doing so, this allowed us to meet the strict requirements of ISO 9001. DIS-TRAN has always placed emphasis on consistency in our manufacturing processes allowing us to reliably deliver projects with the same high-quality standards every time.

ISO 9001:2015 helps companies demonstrate to customers that they can offer products and services of consistently good quality. It is less prescriptive than its predecessor, focusing instead on performance. The change is achieved by combining the process approach with risk-based thinking, and employing the “Plan-Do-Check-Act” cycle at all levels in the organization.

DIS-TRAN’s Quality Assurance Manager, Tom Malo, states, "It’s important because it continues to provide trust between DIS-TRAN and our customers. The certification provides evidence that DIS-TRAN is committed to meet customer requirements, which can be accomplished with our quality management system. By identifying and defining our processes to meet ISO 9001:2015 standards, it allows us to stay consistent with our operations. The commitment from upper management allowed us to be certified to the new ISO 9001:2015 quickly and in a professional manner.”

What this means for DIS-TRAN customers:
• Improved quality and service
• On time delivery
• Right the first time attitude
• Independent audit demonstrates a commitment to quality

DIS-TRAN looks forward to better serving customers and to the exciting, new challenges and opportunities that come along with ISO conformance.
