DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations Earns Top Prize for Culture & Values

The marketing team from Crest Industries and DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations (DTPS) won Best in Show in the inaugural Torché Awards for the company’s 2020 Purpose & Values campaign. DTPS is part of the Crest Industries family of businesses, and they serve the electric power delivery industry by providing support on substation projects.

“From the beginning to the end it’s always been about our people, and I’m so glad the judges were able to see that and recognize all of us for what makes DIS-TRAN, DIS-TRAN,” says DTPS Marketing Manager, Andy Miller.

The Torché Awards are a statewide initiative to recognize outstanding work in public relations and communication, and multiple organizations from across Louisiana submitted entries for this year’s program. The judges distinguished the DTPS Purpose & Values entry as the only Torché Award recipient in the state.

“This entry stands out for its excellence in employee communications for what is one of the most important parts of an organization's employee value proposition: company values,” judges said. “This ‘small but mighty’ communications team has shown that when you give employees the opportunity to express their passions, you can deliver truly impactful and engaging content that contributes directly to the bottom line without any budget at all – with just dedication, commitment and heart.”

Crest Industries also earned two Awards of Excellence for the 2020 State of the Business Meeting and the company’s COVID-19 Response.

Judges continued to say all of Crest's initiatives submitted for judging were “impressively well-planned and well-done. That it was impacted by COVID regulations and a major hurricane and still carried out with minor issues is to be commended.”

The teams at Crest Industries use opportunities like this awards program to gain feedback from seasoned professionals across the country and lean into the company’s strong ideals of continuous improvement and innovation within all areas of business.
